Cosmos integrates Evmos: Rise the power for native EVM

On March 19, sources reported that the Interchain Foundation (ICF) of Cosmos has funded the open-source project Evmos, a native EVM framework within their multi-chain ecosystem. This ecosystem includes over 200 application chains. Previously, Evmos was developed as part of a separate project, but it is now officially integrated into the Cosmos cross-chain software suite, which includes Cosmos SDK. This allows Cosmos to have a standardized EVM version, enhancing compatibility with the EVM environment, fully supporting JSON-RPC, and being compatible with Ethereum wallets through a lightweight EVM configuration for native ERC-20 Tokens.

This integration enhances the interoperability between the broader EVM ecosystem and Cosmos through the (IBC) cross-chain communication protocol. During this transition, Federico Kunze Küllmer, co-founder of Evmos, is no longer a core contributor but continues to advise ICF on the modular architecture of Cosmos EVM. Küllmer's company, Altiplanic, which was a key contributor to Evmos's source code, will also no longer participate in the project.
