Stable v1.2.0 Major Release: USDT0 Becomes Native Gas, Fully Upgraded Stablecoin Settlement Experience
According to official sources, the StableChain mainnet has completed the upgrade to Stable v1.2.0. This update introduces the USDT0 Gas mechanism and includes multiple optimizations to the core protocol, aiming to make stablecoin payments and on-chain interactions smoother and more efficient, while also providing a more developer- and institution-friendly infrastructure environment.
Since its mainnet launch on December 8, 2025, Stable has been focused on building a predictable, compliant, and low-cost stablecoin settlement network for the real economy. The v1.2.0 upgrade is regarded as a critical iteration, not only improving the retail user experience but also significantly enhancing enterprise-level integration and on-chain observability capabilities.
In the new version, USDT0 officially replaces gUSDT as the network’s native Gas token. All existing gUSDT balances will be automatically converted to USDT0. Now, USDT0 functions both as a Gas payment token and an ERC-20 token, capable of paying network fees as well as being used for transfers, approvals, and other operations. Users no longer need to wrap or unwrap tokens, greatly reducing operational friction.
Additionally, v1.2.0 enhances the transparency of the STABLE staking process. When unstaking is completed, an on-chain UnbondingComplete event will be triggered, allowing applications and indexers to listen directly and verify balances, avoiding the inefficiency of repeated queries used previously.
On the developer side, the new version fixes compatibility issues between the old Solidity and STABLE contracts, improving stability across multiple tools and deployment environments. Furthermore, the newly added Gas exemption transaction mechanism allows certain processes to be completed without requiring users to prepay fees, and employs quota and permission systems to prevent abuse, bringing more possibilities to user onboarding and payment experiences.
With the rollout of v1.2.0, StableChain is gradually building a more mature native stablecoin settlement network. Future versions will continue to focus on reliability under high load, developer tool optimization, and user experience design that more closely aligns with real-world payment scenarios.
