Junk.Fun is a Solana MEME recycling platform supported by @bonk_inu and incubated by @MantaNetwork.

Users can destroy “Zeroing MEME, passively received junk airdrops, NFTs” on Junk.Fun to receive SOL. After destruction, users will receive Credits on Junk.Fun.

There are two usage paths for Credits:

  1. Direct withdrawal, obtaining the 0.002 SOL that should belong to you, occupied by “zero MEME, passively received garbage airdrops, NFT” in the wallet.

  2. Open the Junk.Fun treasure chest to win more SOL, physical prizes like iPhone(, NFTs, and other rewards in future airdrops.

During the first month of the event, Junk.Fun will distribute at least $50,000 in prizes.

Here is a detailed tutorial and principle analysis,

Currently, some MEME tokens do not directly display their abbreviations and logos, and the functionality is being improved. Additionally, tokens such as ) and others have been added to the whitelist to prevent accidental destruction.

Detailed Explanation of Solana Account Rent Mechanism

Did you know that for every garbage airdrop on the Solana wallet, you will be charged 0.002 SOL?

That's right, this is the account rent mechanism of Solana. Some friends might ask, I wasn't charged rent when I created my Solana address.

Okay, before understanding the Solana account mechanism, let's first differentiate between the concepts of address and account.

In the Solana architecture, an account ≠ an address. Solana addresses are created for free, can receive assets, sign transactions, and do not occupy on-chain storage.

This is crucial, as it does not occupy on-chain storage.

So when will the “rent” be charged? It will be during the time of occupying the on-chain storage.

How is on-chain storage calculated? Suppose someone transfers USDC to you, the Solana system needs to create a “USDC Token” account, at which point 0.002 needs to be deducted from your SOL balance as rent. Once the account is created, the USDC will arrive.

Another common situation is the passive reception of junk token airdrops, where the system will automatically create a junk token account for you and deduct 0.002 SOL as rent. Your wallet has more junk airdrops, and SOL has decreased.

So, the relationship between an address and an account is similar to having multiple accounts under your name to receive different tokens. Each account requires a rent of 0.002 SOL. However, often, opening an account is passive.

The following Solscan shows the status of the MEME token SBAE, where the SOL Balance of 0.002039 is the rent.

USDC page, although the SOL Balance is not displayed, the Owner Program is a Token Program, which means that rent still needs to be paid.

Why is there “rent”?

In fact, in order to prevent state explosion, similar to DDOS attacks, to prevent someone from maliciously issuing tokens endlessly on the chain.

The actual situation is that in order to reduce the cost of normal project airdrops, it has turned into a model where those who benefit pay. This has instead been exploited by many junk MEME creators to generate false holding address data.

The essence of Junk.Fun is to help users recover the passive SOL rental fees.
